In an era of manufactured heritage, authentic heritage becomes a design material.

Cristóbal Balenciaga’s Spanish heritage was embedded in his construction. Flamenco dress and matador costume were recurring references in his work, translated through silhouette, volume and movement.

This project takes that heritage as a design constraint, translating its gestures and techniques into form. It pushes the tension between structure and movement to its limit, exploring the moment where control becomes release.
